Ann Bridges

Working from sketch book studies Ann uses a printmaking technique to create an illusion of depth and movement to her subject matter. Layers of translucent inks are applied to the picture surface, leaving each layer to dry before adding the next.

Hidden colours are revealed by drawing into the ink and wiping off areas that are not quite dry. In this way the richness of the image is gradually built up.

The finished pictures are usually referred to as Monoprints, one-off original pieces of work.

Studio based in Ruthin, Ann creates images from real life sources including insects, butterflies, plants, fish, flowers, shells, rock pools etc. Drawing is Ann’s passion, filling sketch books and drawing on a daily basis.

Ann has staged two successful solo exhibitions at manorhaus and exhibits 'Princes and the Pea' and 'quilt' monoprints within the colourfull and princess like Oriel 4.
