Formerly resident in the Vale of Clwyd, Mary now lives in the Borderlands of Mid Wales, six miles from Oswestry. She derives much inspiration from that area's rural landscape, wildlife and history.
Originally trained as an Art Teacher, Mary has been working in oils and pastels for nearly two decades, in that time achieving recognition as a noted landscape painter. Five years ago she took up printing to suppliment her methods of work, and is now doing a Professional Printmakers Course at The Regional Print Centre, Yale College, Wrexham.
Much of Mary's work represents a sympathetic portrayal of the varied landscape and sky where she lives, displaying a meditative and peaceful quality. The majority of her work is painted in situ to capture the atmosphere and true colours that are so important to her.
