On leaving college Myrig established himself at Ram Jam studios in Cardiff, where he organised and took part in several group shows. More recently he has begun to show work in London, and is gaining an international client base.
The central idea behind Myrig's work revolves around the question of value in painting. Is technical ability better than expresion and feeling as espoused by abstract expressionism? Also the use of photographs is 'admitted' and indeed part of the question, in the sense that to make a painting that is a replica of a photograph is a futile excercise, as the photograph itself already to all intent a perfect document.
The auto-vandalisation of the work offers a contradictory language, showing us an earlier part of the journey of drawing. the naive and often ingenous solutions employed by children in drawing, which many find so poignant.
Myrig staged a popular solo show at manorhaus in March 2003. He is represented by Cadogan Contemporary London
